The newest ship in the Disney Cruise Line® fleet is on its way home! Disney Fantasy set sail from Germany on Feb. 16, beginning a historic voyage across the Atlantic and down the Eastern Seaboard before reaching its homeport in Florida.
Ed Fouché, Senior Vice President of Travel Industry Sales Americas, has joined the Cast and Crew on board. Below is the first report from his journey:

Today we took the bus from Bremen, Germany to the Port of Bremerhaven to board Disney Fantasy. As we drove through port, we came around a curve in the road, and out of the dense fog the Disney Fantasy appeared. The first glimpse of our gorgeous new ship was a moment my family and I will always remember. Once on board we settled into our staterooms and started checking out our brand-new ship. She is beautiful in every aspect, and we can’t wait to get started on our adventure crossing the Atlantic Ocean.

The sendoff for Disney Fantasy from the people of Bremerhaven was nothing short of spectacular. As we pulled away, the dock was lined with people standing in the cold, waving lighted torches and cheering. Then over the loud speaker, they played songs from Andrea Bocelli and Frank Sinatra, wishing us a safe voyage to New York. As we got underway, the city unleashed a fireworks display worthy of a Disney theme park! We’re now on rolling seas and headed to the Azores, then New York.

Until tomorrow, bon voyage!

On Jan. 8, 2012 Disney Fantasy floated out of the Shipyard in Germany on it’s way to its new home at Port Canaveral. Disney Fantasy’s Maiden Voyage will be March 31, 2012. Keep watching for more updates on this beautiful ship!
